Melting machine- preparation and storage (From a Plant for fire
aluminizing steel wire)
The furnace for melt preparation is an electrically heated crucible
furnace. Ingots of an aluminium master alloy are melted beforehand in
the crucible furnace, melting temperature 750°C.
The molten aluminium is processed before being fed into the actual
melting and holding furnace
Processing is carried out using an impeller device, degassing of the
melt, degassing agent argon gas.
Slag is separated and bound by adding further agents such as flux to
the melt. The separated slag is skimmed off using a ladle.
The prepared melt is transferred to the melting and holding furnace
via the charging funnel using a ladle.
Alternatively, if the technological requirements are met, the melt is
pumped from the melting furnace into the holding furnace by a pump.
The holding and dosing furnace is heated electrically. (The detailed
description can be found in the manufacturer´s technical
documentation).
The furnace is fed via a so-called feed hopper The feed hopper extends
into the melt of the dosing furnace
The dosing furnace is permanently covered with nitrogen gas to prevent
oxidation of the melt. The dosing furnace is tightly closed during
operation.
The front furnace flap can be opened to clean the melt.
The dosing furnace is tightly connected to the coating chamber by a
detachable flange connection. Liquid melt is pressed into the coating
chamber through a riser pipe which reaches into the melt of the dosing
furnace. This occurs as follows: nitrogen gas enters the furnace
chamber above the melt through an electro-pneumatic control valve, a
preset overpressure is built up in the furnace chamber (the furnace
diagram can be found in the manufacturer´s technical
documentation).
The inner chamber pressure is monitored and scanned via pressure
sensors. In the event of overpressure, 2 renundant safety valves
open.
The fill level of the melt is monitored by 2 laser sensors. ( The
detailed functional description of the sensors can be found in the
manufacturer´s technical documentation )
The coating chamber is emptied by reducing the overpressure in the
furnace interior by closing the electropneumatic control valve and
simultaneously opening a shut-off valve, the entire nitrogen control
line and the furnace interior is thus depressurised.
