Production Process — Three Steps:

- Step 1: Crystallisation
- Step 2: Rectification
- Step 3: Solidification (Granulation)

Process Description:

- Crystallisation: Static layer crystallisation, 3-stage process. Cooling plates suspended in the melt. Four individual steps: crystallising, draining residue, partial melting, total melting.
- Rectification: Vacuum rectification. Structured packing column with 6 packing stages.Steam generation via falling-film evaporator. Head condenser: integrated shell-and-tube heat exchange
- Granulation (Solidification): Granulation rollers, immersion process. Subsequent processes: storage and bagging

Main Components and Their Function:

- Crystalliser: Performs static layer crystallisation in three stages to separate and purify the anthracene and carbazole from the crude material.
- Rectification Column: Vacuum rectification using a structured packing column with 6 packing stages. Falling-film evaporator for steam generation. Integrated shell-and-tube heat exchanger as head condenser
- Vacuum System: Liquid-ring vacuum pump with asymmetric double-flow impeller,magnetic coupling, seal liquid using R-anthracene oil, gas washing function, and

bearing/motor cooling.

- Pumps: Two pump types — centrifugal pump with magnetic coupling, and canned motor centrifugal pump (with pump cooler).
- Granulation, Silos and Bagging: Granulation rollers operate by immersion process. Liquid undercooling via water-cooled roller. A solid film is drawn up and scraped off by a scraper blade. Further cooling via a cooling screw conveyor with explosion protection. Roller is blanketed with nitrogen (N2). Silo cell-wheel airlock serves as transition to outside atmosphere and for dosing. Fill quantity per big bag: 600 kg carbazole/anthracene.Explosion zone 20 inside filling pipe and big bag; explosion zone 22 within 1 m radius around bagging station
- Thermal Oil Plant: Primary circuit with burner, expansion vessel, storage vessel (Therminol), shell-and-tube heat exchanger, degassing section, and evaporator K21. Secondary circuits with storage vessel (Ruetasolv), degassing section, expansion vessel,pressure-holding pipes, head condenser, cooling traps BV22, carbazole condenser, and anthracene oil cooler
- CAT Handling / Crude Anthracene Receiving Station: Three communicating vessels with a single inlet. Includes unloading station for trucks and crude material vessels
