Wire heating machine (From a Plant for fire aluminizing steel wire)
Wire heating is inductive, 12 wires are heated simultaneously by a
coil.
The frequency of the inductor is tuned to 12 wires. To prevent
interference with the HF generator, at least 10 wires must be moved
within the coil.
Inside the inductor, the wires are guided through 12 ceramic tubes
which are mounted inside the induction coil. The ceramic tubes prevent
contact with the coil. To prevent the ceramic tubes from breaking, the
wires should be guided through the tubes as centred as possible.
The wires are heated to coating temperature inside the inductor and
the temperature is measured using a radiation thermometer
(pyrometer).
The heating power of the inductor is preselected and the power is
regulated automatically in line with the change in speed of the wire.
In practice, this means that the power adjustment of the basic power
value, e.g. 35 % at a wire speed of 10 m/min, is analogue. The power
increases according to a calculated formula with increasing wire speed
up to 85% at 60 m/min with a wire diameter of 2 mm.
Forming gas, 95.5% nitrogen gas and 4.5% hydrogen gas is fed into
ceramic tubes via the link box. The forming gas has a reducing effect
on the wire surface and protects the wire from oxidation by the oxygen
in the air during annealing.
The link box must not be opened during operation.
